Default Buick Encore liftgate

We have a customer that purchased a Buick Encore. Apparently she either never tried out the liftgate or was "sold" on the idea that we could fix the issue. What issue? Well she is vertically challenged and cannot reach the pull down cup when the liftgate is open. We tried attaching a strap but it doesn't really work right. We tried shorter liftgate struts off of an Acadia, they kept the liftgate from opening so far so she could reach the cup but it would take 3 of her to pull it down. I'm sure par-tech will be no help at all. Has anyone ran into this issue? How did you fix it? I wish the liftgate struts would specify a length and how much weight they handle.
