Just curious how many are selling parts over list price or using a matrix?

Back in my 20 group days, it varied by how much the part was and I believe NADA had a breakdown on those numbers. Or at least the 20 group division did.

I have one set up, retail plus %.
High percentage on low dollar amount items and the percentage drops as the retail price rises. |

I remember when I attended a training session and first learned about matrix pricing. I recall the instructor used supermarkets as an example and said that they learned that most customers are super price sensitive on only a few items and as long as a store was competitive on those items they could price everything else higher and increase margins without hurting sales.
As I recall the items mentioned in the supermarket example were bread, milk and eggs. In a dealership environment I'd guess the items that customers would be most price sensitive on would be the items they see at Walmart like filters, plugs, bulbs, etc. |
