Very cool - I like your style. That's definitely a great example of finding a "win-win" solution. I hope corporate gave you a big bonus.

On a different note, I've heard about dealers who were able to convert their excess return allowance into cash by buying old parts from other dealers and I've often wondered if there was an opportunity there. In some ways it appears that's the type of situation dealerpartstrader.com tries to broker.

Definitely. If you're big enough that you earn that kind of allowance, it's a money maker. Unfortunately, we're not...

I say "unfortunately". Probably a good thing.

Does anyone know of any mega dealers that purchase obsolete parts inventory for cheap?

Update on our relationship w/ OEConnection...

They gave us one 6 month extesion per GM but that was it, we're done. And it took me a month of constantly calling(they don't return your call w/o a dealer code, even though we shovel them $$ every month) to find out that info.

On the other hand our GM/Snap-On parts look-up software was granted another six month extension, per GM.

Go figure, glad to see nothing's changed.

ADP has the "Cash Discovery Program." review at: www.sellmyidlestock.com. I've had some success with program, but again, it's a "pick thru" your inventory, not a bulk sale. P. S. you pay the freight, and net 40% of purchase price (at current book pricing). There's another one out there called www.dealermine.com. Basiclly the same senario.

Try Scoggin Dickey in Lubbock Texas. That's who bought most of ours; just don't expect much for it.

Is there anyone in particular to ask for at Scoggin Dickey?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Are you staying in business, selling used cars? I ask only that I recently looked into and joined a program with "Mighty" auto parts. They rebadge all my GM parts to their numbers, including sheet metal (unlike NAPA). The stocking quantities of their parts is low, and a large discount on initial order, with payments made by volume discunts earned in later months.

Staying in business. Just have some parts left from the old dealer that would like to see gone in bulk. We're on dealermine and they seemed to pick over what they wanted already.
