Best way to liquidate parts inventory???
Anyone have any good solutions for selling off existing parts inventory?
So far, the best I've been able to come up with is other dealers wanting to pick my best inventory and offer 50 cents on the dollar. With the GM BK nearing it's conclusion, we're looking to wind down our GM operation as soon as possible. |

Ebay, Craigs List? They seemed effective for those one off parts and you get nation wide coverage.

In a perfect world, the media would expose Chrysler's plan to profit from the OLDCO dealers by buying their parts at a discount and "shame" Chrysler and GM into doing the right thing and repurchasing the parts at dealer net.
I've wanted to bring this issue to light but haven't had much luck. In answer to your question, I'm afraid I don't have any answers. My bet is most parts will be sold to local dealers at a steep discount. |

We have been selling parts via OEConnect for almost 60% off cost. Just to move old old GM parts.

We sold quite a few on Dealermine at 50 cents on the dollar. Then sold the remaind (mainly old obsolete stuff) to another mega dealer for 20 cents on the dollar. Officially out of the GM parts business now.

I am out of the GM franchise, and travelling the road as an independent sales and service opeation. I have $65,000.00 of GM parts left. Sales through Dealermine and ADP liquidation service are slow. It seems like there should be a number of former dealers in like situation, who have no place to list their inventories for a single item sale. Lord knows, I would rather buy from a former dealer who has a problem than anyone else. Does anyone know of a " parts Locator Service" who has a program set up for us Independents to buy from each other's parts invetory???

I own a body shop and used my purchasing at this shop as leverage. I made a deal with a local dealer to sell him my parts for 85 cents on the dollar and verbally committed to purchase Chrysler inventory from him for a reasonable period in the future. It worked out well.

Good idea, I don't think would work for me. Local dealers in ca-hoots with GM on closing me. Was willing to testify against other locals at arbitrations.

GM Ex-Dealers might call Scoggin-Dickey in Lubbock, TX.
They will pay "something" for them. |

That's who bought ours. Offer we got was our entire inventory (good stuff and outdated junk as well) for 20 cents on the dollar. It isn't much but better than letting it sit around and rot while you pay inventory tax on it. They did send a Fed-ex truck for it at their expense. All we had to do was box it up and tell them how many boxes.

You're right. I've sold much over the last 5 months at .30 on the dollar and them paid shipping. I'm not afraid to pull the trigger, I just think there out to be some other avenue than bulk selling. It would seem to me there are enough dealers such as I, that some inventive "locator service" would set up a "independent dealer to dealer" parts locator (at a minimal charge where they could make money), and us NEWLY independent could cross sell. Everybody wins, as the remaining balances in parts could go away at 50 or 60 % (instead of 20 or 30%), buyer would beat buying from a "going forward dealer at full price.
I've tried to contact the prior locator services I've used, and they don't understand the concept of an independent with a GM parts inventory. |

We are an ex-GM dealer, now independent; with all of our GM inventory on OEConnection. Our inventory is updated just as we were still a dealer....maybe I didn't understand the question either?
