Default Future Chevrolet products on display at the 2012 Barrett-Jackson - Orange County

I wanted to share some of the pictures I took when I was at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Orange County.

Here are some pictures of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala:

Default 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Frankly, I thought the vehicle looked fantastic and I thought it was remarkable that the standard engine was going to be a Four Cylinder with 195 horsepower - it wasn't that long ago that domestic V8s didn't even make that much horsepower.

Chevrolet will offer e 3.6 Liter with 303 horsepower. Perhaps most interesting from a marketing standpoint, Chevrolet will also offer a high MPG Four Cylinder engine that features "electronic assist" - it's a hybrid engine by anyone's definition but for some reason Chevrolet doesn't use the term "hybrid" in any of their marketing materials.

Who knows, maybe the term "hybrid" has a negative connotation with some buyers who don't want to be seen as the type of guy who drives 55 MPH in the fast lane.

Default Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking

I'm guessing that the Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking will be part of an extra-cost option package, but I still think it's impressive that this technology will soon be available on a mainstream production sedan.

While I think Collision Mitigation Braking is an awesome technology that we will see much more of in the future, I wonder how many meetings GM had to have before the lawyers finally agreed to a name for the system that the marketing guys could promote?

My understanding it's just a mild hybrid system a battery, cables and fancy alternator my tech in the shop went to class and said it's pretty simple.

Interesting - thanks for the update.

I was surprised to see GM showcasing a 2014 vehicle that's slated for production but then again I guess they could start selling the 2014s in January, 2013 and that's less than six months away.

When I get caught up I'll add a few more pictures to this thread.
