Default AutoTrader plans to add Dealer Reviews to their website

A report in Automotive News indicates that AutoTrader plans to add Dealer Reviews to their website, just like Cars.com and Edmunds have done. With the new feature, customers (and fake customers) will be able to add their comments about their shopping/buying experience with a dealership.

Given the competitive landscape I can't say I'm surprised by AutoTrader's decision. That said, from a dealership's perspective it just adds one more site that the Internet Department needs to monitor to respond to any negative reviews.

I also thought it was interesting that AutoTrader reported an all-time high number of unique visitors in July - 17.7 Million.

i'm truly puzzled, do people really feel these reviews are credible?
we had a csi review that was the absolute opposite of our interaction with our customer. we called him and were told that someone broke into his girlfriends apt., hacked her computer and filled out the bad survey, he had nothing to do with it!
these people are cowards plain and simple.
am i off base on this today??

I think there are a ton of fake reviews in the marketplace and I tend to take them with a HUGE grain of salt when I'm making a purchase decision.

I remember reading a review of a Tow Truck Company in Lake Havasu, AZ where the customer raved about service he received when his car was stuck in a snow bank and he needed assistance. Interesting comments given the fact that it's never snowed in Lake Havasu.

The article in AN mentioned that Google removed thousands of reviews they thought were fake and Edmunds sued a company from Texas that allegedly submitted fake reviews for dealers.

That's classic - "It wasn't me, someone hacked my computer...."
