Just bought the 22" Widescreen Display
I've been having problems with the Viewsonic LCD that I have on my desktop so I decided to upgrade to one of the new 22" Widescreen displays.
I just installed the monitor and now the forum is freakishly wide.... It's weird because some sites just fill the middle of the screen, some are balanced to the left side and others fill the entire screen. The forum fills the entire screen and it seems to be 50% wider than before. Does anyone view this site on a HD Widescreen monitor? I've done some checking and I guess I can have my Website Developer change some settings, but I figured I'd try it for a few days to see if I get used to it. I love new technology but I'm sometimes resistant to big changes..... |

I have a 19 inch widescreen at work and it seems fine to me. Oops, did I say I check the boards at work?

Well just to give you an idea of how wide the screen is, none of the paragraphs in the first post word-wrap to a second line.
Concerning surfing the site while you're at work, that's a good thing. |

19" wide at work as well. I have a wireless laptop I use at the house, not sure of screen size... but I don't even think about the difference of screens work vs home. You'll get use to it no doubt.

I changed the resolution setting, it's getting better
I changed the resolution setting and it's starting to look better.
The forum is still about 25% wider than it was before, but at least one of the paragraphs in my first post actually word-wraps to a second line. I did discover there's a modification to the software that allows the end-user to determine how they want to view the forum. They can choose a "wide" format or a "fixed" format. They can even select their own background color. Here's a link to a site that uses this modification: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/index.php The option is located at the lower left corner of the forum - Layout Options. As many of you have posted, maybe I'll just get used to it after a few days. |
