Default 2008 Ram 1500

Does anyone out there know if a 2008 Ram 1500 stick shift 2WD can be flat towed? I have a customer who wants to tow it behind his motor home and don't have the books with the vehicle to confirm. I have gotten 2 different answers from 2 different dealers. Help please! Thanks.

Zophy, only the 4x4 can be towed without a pump being installed per owner's manual.

If it's a two-wheel drive truck with a manual transmission, my guess is that it could be flat towed.

I would agree that a truck with an automatic transmission would need a pump for lubrication, but I would think a manual would be self-lubricating.

I'm not an expert, but if it's the difference between selling the truck and not selling the truck I'd keep searching to make sure you're 100% certain it won't work.

Customer was in Sat with a Saturn Vue for trade (which can be flat towed). It was no longer large enough as his wife now needs a scooter. His idea was to get the Ram and put a topper on it to accomodate the scooter. Then they would tow it behind their motor home when they come to Fl for the winter and he would have a truck to drive when he got here.
Nedless to say we papered him on Sat and he was gonna pick up on Monday. In addition to the cost of the tow bar it now also needed a diff disconnect. He decided it was too much $ to spend. Too bad for him that he met his wife at the jewelry store after he left our lot on Sat. as I'm sure she's not returning the jewelry he bought her so he could have a new truck.

We are one of the few types of business where a customer can "unwind" a sale.

The milk I bought last night is mine, even if I change my mind.
