Ha...uglier than a man's ass. That might be the best automobile style reference I've heard.

In fairness that was the worst picture of the Fiat Doblo that I could find. Hopefully the vehicle will receive some styling improvements before they add the Ram logo to the hood.

Dear god...it looks like they picked the stable of the Tata Motors design crew.
I do like the sliding door in the back. Perfect for picking up the ladies on a Saturday night. Terrible... |

The irony is the Ford Transit Van and the Fiat Doblo are both built in Turkey and will be imported to the U.S.
When I first heard about the Ford Transit van I liked it but I don't get the impression it's been a big seller for Ford - I still don't see too many on the streets. Quote:
To the extent that Ram finally has some heavy duty trucks it would be great to hear some dealer success stories with Business Link but I get the impression that the commercial market is soft since so many of those trucks were used for construction and housing and those markets are still mired in the recession. On a side note, the Ram brand will also be getting a larger size commercial van, something more on the scale of the old Sprinters, based on a Fiat design that will be built in Mexico. |

it sounded to me like they were pushing commercial sales and business link, and I think this is from Bigland's influence...

That would make sense given Bigland's experience on the Freightliner side of the house. He clearly understands the commercial business and I'm sure Marchionne wants to find a way to sell more of their commercial vehicles in the U.S.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the Business Link meeting - maybe in an AREA 51 thread. To me Business Link always seemed to have a lot of potential but I can only think of a handful of dealers who were actually able to make it work. In fairness, maybe the program is more successful today now that Dodge has a better lineup of heavy duty trucks with frames that can accommodate up-fitting. |
