Default How are sales of Used Vehicles doing?

We've all read the headlines about how bad sales are for new vehicles, but how's the market for used vehicles at your dealership?

Automotive News has a story suggesting that used vehicle sales are weak - with one dealer indicating he has cut his auction purchases from 60 units per month to 10. Another dealer stated that auction prices are so cheap that he has the ability to sell used cars in volume.

Which scenario best describes your store?

Last 90 days Pre-owned units are down nearly 50%. Ironically about the same as new vehicles.

No one is going to spend any money until the market gets a little more predictable. Time to search out those rental car companies and fleet companies for warranty work.

Wow, I'm kind of surprised.

For some reason I was thinking (hoping) that the Used Car side would be holding up better. I had heard that there were more and more independent used car dealers going out of business, I guess the entire market is soft right now.

Concerning the Service Department, that's a real cause for concern.

That's a great idea.

I knew a Service Manager in the Portland Area that used to cater to all of the Rental Car Fleets at the PDX Airport. It provided a steady flow of work that allowed him to keep his techs busy during the slow winter months.

I think there are a lot of people that are going through the exact same thing. Sales are down and anxiety is up.

Keep smiling and I hope that you have a great Thanksgiving.
