Default GM reinstates terminated OLDCO Dealer - Dwayne Lane Chevrolet

In a rare bit of good news for the rejected dealers, newspaper reports indicate GM has reinstated Dwayne Lane Chevrolet in Arlington, WA. The dealership was terminated in 2009 as part of GM's Bankruptcy filing.

Here's a link to the news report - click here

The dealership held a Grand Opening celebration that was attended by over 400 local customers, employees and supporters.

Here's an excerpt from the news report:
In late 2009, Lane announced that General Motors had canceled its dealership in the wake of the recession that battered automakers across the country.

After General Motors emerged from bankruptcy, a GM official called Lane in late 2010 to reinstate the Arlington dealership, which has returned to Arlington with a larger presence than ever.

It appears in this case GM was willing to admit they made a mistake and allowed a dealer to re-open his dealership and add jobs to the community. It's too bad there aren't more stories like this one.

I'd agree that most of GM's wind-down dealers have given up hope that GM would admit they were wrong and reverse their decision.

That said, I'd love to hear more details about this reinstatement - I wonder why GM didn't reinstate the dealer a year ago when they were settling arbitration cases?

Time will tell but it does seem like GM has a better track-record of working with their OLDCO dealers than Chrysler does.

Thats true, but then again it wouldn't take much to be better than Chrysler.
