Default Another store closes

Last week Bergstrom Automotive Buys Van DyneHoven out only to close the Ripon WI location. The rumors have been floating out there that the main goal was to aquire the list of import stores located on the same road as Bergstrom's imports and he could care less about the domestics(Chrysler Jeep Dodge Buick)

That could well be the case.

Sadly, most domestic stores have no value right now because potential buyers fear they'll be wiped out if the OEM files for bankruptcy. If the industry could alleviate that fear I'm sure the value of dealerships would increase and dealers would be willing to invest in their businesses again.

It will be interesting to see what solutions the President's Car Committee has as we approach the end of the month deadline.

Bergstrom Automotive to close 4 Saturn stores link http://www.fdlreporter.com/article/2...067/1985/FON04

If memory servesme right this makes 6 of the empire and 7 if you include the sale of Van DyneHoven's GM line in Kaukauna when he bought the Van DyneHoven stores (3) a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the update.

It's got to be a tough time to own a Saturn Dealership right now. While there have been some reports that a foreign company may want to purchase the unit from General Motors there's still a lot of uncertainty.

To the extent that GM has made it very clear that they'll stop supplying product after 2012 it has to be affecting showroom traffic and sales.
