Default Ram Trucks shipped with the wrong axle ratio - Monroney was wrong

According to a report in Automotive News there are an undetermined number of Ram Truck owners who thought they bought a truck with a 3.55 axle ratio but actually have a 3.21 axle ratio. For a link to the full report - click here

Perhaps most interesting to me, Chrysler knew about the problem and sent a letter to the affected owners indicating that the Monroney sticker was incorrect and their vehicle actually had a 3.21 axle as opposed to the 3.55 listed on the Monroney. Apparently Auburn Hills is offering customers $750 in "Mopar Dollars" as compensation but there are rumors the company will make other settlement offers if sufficient pressure is applied.

Mistakes happen and it's not the end of the world. That said, I would bet there are a fair number of Ram owners who specifically sought a 3.55 axle ratio for better towing performance and they won't have any interest in a settlement that leaves them with a 3.21 equipped truck.
