Default Lithia Motors acquires Harvest Ford in Klamath Falls, OR

I was somewhat surprised to read that Lithia Motors has acquired Harvest Ford in Klamath Falls, OR.

I wonder if the acquisition is a reflection of Lithia's desire to add more dealers to their group or a reflection that there's not much demand for a single point domestic dealer in a rural community.

To Lithia's credit they seem to do best with domestic stores in rural to mid-size markets and I can't fault them for buying a Ford store.

Who knows, maybe dealers will be able to start talking about the "Blue Sky" value of their stores again one day.

Here's some more information about the purchase. Seems like Ford may not have agreed with the previous ownership.

I think it's a good purchase. Klamath Falls serves ranchers and farmers in a large area from Eastern Oregon to Northern California. No real competitors either.

Great information - thanks for the link.

I'm surprised Lithia would buy a store that's been closed for a month but it does seem to be a good fit since K-Falls is so close to their Medford Corporate Headquarters.

Concerning the broker who sold the store, it can't be easy selling a store that's currently closed and has closed down twice in the past four years. Lithia has the capital to run the store until it becomes profitable - seems like a "win-win-win" dealer for the old dealer, Lithia and the K-Falls community.
