I read that GM has teamed-up with a number of Credit Unions in an effort to help their dealers fund deals - I need to read more to get the details. (It sounded like a major program - $10 Billion +) I hope that Chrysler has similar plans. After-all, you can't sell a car if you can't get the deal bought. |

I just read the CFC e-mail regarding CMA withdrawls - Limited Liquidity Corporation seems to be dead on.
I wonder if dealers are re-advancing on CMA because they're worried about CFC's future or if they're just using the money to fund daily operations because their stores are losing money? |

I've been behind on my reading of Automotive News and just read an article from the November 24th issue that indicated that CMA funds could be in jeopardy if an automaker filed Chapter 11. To the extent that CFC must know that fear is what's driving the re-advancing of CMA funds, you'd think they would address the issue and put their dealer's concerns at ease. I always thought that CMA was safe because it was backed-up with physical inventory - I wonder what the lawyers know that makes them feel the funds may be in jeopardy? |

No one can argue that the rate of return is favorable, CFC just needs to address the risk. Maybe CMA should be backed by Cerberus in the event of a Chrysler bankruptcy? |

That's an excellent point, based on recent history I'd agree that the answer is "no."
It still seems like there should be a better answer than simply asking the dealers to help the team. Without a solution, Gilman's letter may actually fuel more re-advances on CMA. |

Again, my investmest is covered by inventory.
If "they" go belly up what is my inventory worth. I'll give you 20 Nitros and 20 Durangos for your investmest. You'll give me 50K street worth of stuff for my 1M investment? Sure. Wanna by the Brooklyn Bridge? |
