$1.66.9/gal
I just filled up my Terrain for $26.99
The freefall has been nice, but I'm old school and I'd like to see it stop dropping. I know if it gets too much lower we might run into other issues - I know I was just told I have to PAY to have my waste oil removed again. I'm also waiting for GM and Mobil to lower my bulk prices, they havn't changed up or down in over a year. |

Gas drops to $1.75 in the Phoenix area
Gas is down to $1.75 in the Phoenix area - a drop of 14 cents in under two weeks. Blue sky, lower gas prices and the Seahawks are coming to town to play in the Super Bowl - good time to be in Arizona. |

Gas drops to $1.69 in the Phoenix area
I was at a Costco store yesterday and noticed that gas has dropped to $1.69 in the Phoenix area.
While there are many theories to why oil prices have slumped the one that I tend to believe is there's an incentive for the OPEC countries to let oil prices fall if it means other sources of production will eventually stop producing. Oil production in the northern portions of the U.S. and Canada has been booming and there's a strong likelihood that Congress will be able to override the President's veto on the XL Pipeline from Canada to allow even more oil to flow into the U.S. from Canada. OPEC would clearly like to see less competition and an argument could be made that it's in their best interest to let current oil prices fall to kill off these projects and limit future U.S./Canada production. |

Price Creep
The price has slowly crept back up from a low of $1.63/9 to $1.79/9 today over the last few days.
I'm still waiting to see if GM and Mobil are going to lower my bulk oil prices, or am I going to have to leave the GM oil program. My current price is about a $1 per gallon higher than the vendor that wants my business. Yes- I know that GM/Mobil doesn't allow a lot of price changes, which is great when oil is going up, but $1 per gallon difference is HUGE here, as we do a huge LOF business. (We have to double the size of our bulk tanks during our 1st year in the new facility, and had to add a 3rd tank for the 0W20 dexos.) We have run out of oil several times during the summer before I started monitoring oil levels daily. |

Gas is now $2.25 at the station I photographed in the earlier posts - that's an increase of 50 cents in about five weeks.
I just got back from a road trip to San Diego where gas prices were about $1 higher than Arizona. |
