Pay Plans for New Vehicle Salespeople
With gross profits continuing to fall on new vehicles, what has your dealership done with the pay plans for your salespeople?
Has it reached the point where most new vehicle deals are just "minis" for the sales staff? Are there any creative ideas out there that keep the sales staff motivated to sell new cars? |

We have Saturday Spiffs.
Sell 2 cars get $200 Sell 3 cars get $300 Sell 4 cars get $400 Biggest Gross (over $1500) gets an extra $50 Old age units - over 100 days old gets $50, over 175 gets $100 All this is extra money on top of your commission and payable on the next Saturday. It happens.....I was paid $650 last Saturday. I sold 4 cars ($400), 2 was over 175 days old ($200) and one was over 100 days old ($50). Another one we do is they will give everybody a $100 dollar bill Saturday morning, and if you sell one car, you get to keep it. If not, you turn it back in at the end of the day. |

I like the $100 Dollar Bill incentive - I worked at a store that did the same thing. There was a huge amount of peer pressure not to be one of the salespeople that had to return the money at the end of the day. Does your store make an "event" out of awarding spiffs or is it just quietly added to your paycheck? Thanks again for a great post. |
