Other than trying to make some dollars out of some cents...not much. People just can't stand the idea of profit when it comes to buying a car.

I think you need to take studies like the one released by Edmunds with a grain of salt - the retail buying process has changed dramatically over the past 10 - 15 years and there's no question that it will continue to change.
To suggest that people would give up sex or rather do taxes instead of shopping for a car seems a bit extreme. All of the reports that I tend to believe indicate that buyers are spending more time shopping on the Internet and make fewer dealership visits before buying a vehicle. In fact, there's even a trend where more customers purchase their vehicle without even taking a test drive. On a final note, without trying to sound too defensive, I think a lot of the elements customers report being most despised (extended negotiation, high pressure, "buy it today") are actually responses that were developed because so many customers have historically been not truthful. |
