Default June, 2013 Sales Results

While there are still a few OEMs that have not reported their sales, it appears that June was a very strong month for auto sales in the U.S.

Here's a breakdown of the major OEMs that have reported so far:
  • Ford Group +13%
  • Nissan Group +13%
  • Honda Group +10%
  • Chrysler/Fiat +8%
  • General Motors +7%
  • Volkswagen Group +1%
Based on the results posted so far it appears the U.S. Car Market will likely be up by about 10% over last years sales volumes.

Yep, I remember reading those projection too.

In fairness, I'll admit I was one who thought it would have taken a lot longer to reach a 16 Million SAAR. I know there's a lot of pent-up demand for new vehicles but I also think the economy is still pretty fragile.

Default Initial observation....

I think it's somewhat revealing that the bottom five OEMs all have one thing in common - they don't offer a pickup truck for the U.S. market.

Then again, the same could be said for the top two OEMs.

I haven't studied what's happening at Subaru, but June is the second month in a row they've lead the sales results as the major OEM with the greatest percentage sales gain. I'm guessing it's due to their new Subaru BRZ but that's just a guess.
