Default Still $3.90 to $4.00 in the Seattle area

Gas prices are still pretty high in the Seattle area - mostly between $3.90 and $.00 with some stations charging even more than that.

Costco has dropped to $3.75 which is encouraging since they turn their inventory so quickly that their gas prices tend to be a leading indicator for the direction of gas prices for the other gas stations.

Despite news reports that gas prices have been falling, the price of gas in the Seattle area is mostly stable - the price at Costco is still $3.75 and most the other stations range between $3.85 and $4.00.

On a different note, I took a mini road trip the other day and noticed a gas station in a somewhat rural location was advertising that they had gas that was ethanol free. I didn't stop to see how much more they were charging for 100% gasoline but I'm betting there's a market for the gas if the added cost isn't too high.

Default Gasoline Tax Map provided by ExxonMobile

I saw this chart the other day and thought it was interesting:

ExxonMobil reports they make about 5.5 cents of profit for every gallon of gasoline that they refine, ship and sell. It looks like the government makes a fair bit more.....

Here's a link to the report from ExxonMobil - click here

Default Price of gas falls to $3.71

After almost two months of holding at $3.75 the price of gas at the nearby Costco recently dropped to $3.71.

Granted, not a huge drop but at least it's headed in the right direction.

$2.88 in Fredericksburg VA at a Wawa, $2.84 cash at a Gulf. Get 1.5% back on my Capital One VISA so if the credit price is no more than 5 cents more, I'll charge it.
