Amherst Ex-Dodge closes
The bleeding out of the 789 continues. So sad to read these, at one point I said to myself that I wouldn't post any more of these but we need to remember the injustices that were done to so many.

Does anyone have a list of the dealers that "won" arbitration?

Tough break for the Rimrock Auto Group guys, I've known and done business with Steve for years. I hope the AG has the balls to reverse it and let the free market decide.
They also had to spend huge money to keep their GM franchises from being pulled and given to the local Buick dealer, Underriner Motors. Yes, Underriner Motors is owned by the current NADA president. I'm honestly surprised the GM deal went the way it did, as was Steve. There for a while it was looking like St. George, Utah all over again. |

Lakeshow, I noticed that an Underiner lost one of the chrysler franchise's in Billings to Lithia. Was it the same guys store that's now NADA Chairman?

Yes same guy, he had Jeep in his Buick/Volvo/Hyundai store. You would think a guy who received a termination letter from Chrysler, and was president of the MTADA, would go to bat for dealers. But the MTADA was about as much help as the NADA.

I had heard he was a bit passive about the terminations, I can't understand why. Maybe because he only lost jeep and had the other brands and thought he was going to get rimrock's GM franchises. Or maybe political correctness is more important than profit. You expected the dealer council members to do nothing, but a state association or NADA director is a different story.

As I understand it he made a huge play to get Rimrock's GM franchises, even had blueprints for a new GM store next to his new Honda store. And I heard he didn't even put up a fight for Jeep.
Political correctness is right on. He was already primping to go big in NADA at that point, and surely didn't want to step on anyone's toes. I think his actions as state director, or lack of , were just practice for his NADA position. Last edited by Lakeshow; 07-27-2012 at 09:34 AM. |
