Default 2009 J.D. Powers Results

Although I don't think the J.D. Powers report carries the weight it used to, I still think the results are interesting.

For me, there were three surprises:
  1. Ford and Chevrolet almost match Toyota for Initial Quality - it's a statistical dead heat
  2. Hyundai scores well - #4 overall and ahead of Honda, Toyota and Mercedes
  3. The MINI scored dead last with 165 problems per 100 vehicles
Concerning the MINI, I would have lost money on that bet. To the extent they share so much technology with BMW I thought they would be near the top of the list.

While the Ford and Chevrolet performed well, the news was not as good for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge - they all finished in the bottom 10 brands.
