Costco's competition here is all corporately owned, no Mom and Pop stores, no retailers without wholesale distribution.
The only time I pass on the lowest posted price, is the trip to the local Kroger to use up "bonus points" in exchange for discounts off the pump price. Yesterday, I paid a net 57 cents a gallon for 35 gallons. (I always take a 5 gallon can along, so I will not miss that 35 gallon maximum.) |

$1.50-ish for regular in central Indiana. Diesel around $2.00.
There are no mom-and-pop stores here either. In fact, one of the largest chains in Indiana is based just down the road from our dealership, so in our town they sometimes have locations on multiple corners of the same intersection. |

It's interesting to reflect that mom-and-pop stores are mostly non-existent - I guess the consolidation that we've seen in the retail car business is no different than what's happened to gas stations, hardware stores, convenience stores, grocery stores, etc.

I wonder how long gas will stay at this level since it almost always goes up in the spring and summer months? |

Gas is $1.31 in the Phoeniz area
Gas prices continue to fall in the Phoenix area - a nearby Sam's club shows gas for $1.31 per gallon.

Additionally, it could be worse, I could be in California and getting screwed over because the refineries are supposedly switching over to their "summer blend" and that's causing price spikes. |

I figured the sub-$1.50 prices wouldn't last for long but I didn't expect they'd be this short-lived. |

$1.80 would seem like a bargain this week - even Costco and Sam's Club are at $1.93 and $1.94 respectively. Most of the other gas stations are between $2.00 and $2.15. |
