Default What's your store doing for Memorial Day?

It's hard for me to believe that Memorial Day weekend is already approaching - time seems to be flying by.

What's your store doing for Memorial Day?

If the past is representative of the future I'm guessing that almost 100% of our members will have their Service and Parts Departments closed on Monday. The Sales Department's schedule will vary based on market area - rural stores tend to have their Sales Dept. closed on Monday and the metro stores tend to have their Sales Dept. open for the holiday.

Anyone planning a big sales event? Do customers still respond to a special "Memorial Day Sale" or do most just see it as a three-day weekend and they're too busy with other activities to go shopping for a car?

I hope you take the entire two days off and enjoy some R&R.

I just checked my smartphone and learned it's going to be a balmy 72 degrees in your neck of the woods on Monday. For South Dakota that seems like a heat wave.

We are not open Monday.

For God's Sake!!!!.... it's 1 day out of 365 days a year to HONOR the people that gave their lives for us.

I am a Vietnam VET. I am VERY LUCKY to still be alive. In all my years of working for GM dealerships, I have never gotten Veterans Day off. All the kids and teachers get off. All the Government and State employees get off. The only people that should be allowed to be off are VETERANS!!!! PERIOD!!!!!! No dumb replies are acceptable.

Memorial Day is not a darn day of Celebration - Parties - Outings - Picnics ETC. It is a day to pay RESPECT for the DEAD who protected you. The whole concept of Memorial Day has lost it's purpose.

When GM comes up with all this Memorial Day SALES Garbage.... they should all rot in HELL. This is a GROSS Insult to the purpose of Memorial Day.

The USA is all FUBAR when it comes to the purpose of Holidays.

How do your Service/Parts employees function when they have to be there at 7am saturday morning?

The owner of your dealership is a slave driver and a money glutton.

Tell the owner you will meet him at Dunkin Donuts at 6:30am and then he can open the doors.

Some people just have no RESPECT for other people.

Maybe...maybe not. mryan55 would be the only one that has the information to form an accurate opinion about the dealer in question. He said they are a small rural market store...in my experience, most of those small rural dealers put in longer hours than the rest of the employees, and are usually there from open to close and then some. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I've known alot of them, and that's the way all of them operated.

We have farmers tracking in Cow & Horse Crap on the fancy white tile floors and it stinks. How's that for rural?

The building maintenance person cleans it up after he gets done mowing the 3 bosses lawns.
