I always liked it there too.

It seemed like the weather ideal, it never got super hot like Valencia but it was warm and sunny on many of the days when Ventura was overcast.

When Crown owned the store Chrysler's product was red-hot and people didn't seem to mind driving out to Fillmore if they thought they were getting a deal.

I wonder what will happen with the facility? I doubt there will ever be another OEM that wants to open a point in Fillmore - at least not for the next 20 years.

Totally off-topic, but I remember reading that it was a super-small Honda store near Fillmore that broke the scandal where dealers were paying Honda Factory Reps for extra allocation. That was back in the late 80s or early 90s when Hondas were so hot customers were willing to wait in-line and pay over sticker for their new Accord.

It is a neat area, most of the business on the main road (hiway 126) have neon lights for their signage and it looks real neat at night....I remember that Honda scandal as well, I think that store was called Vista 126 Honda, the other Vista store was in Van Nuys or Woodland Hills area and that store seemed to get a lot of Hondas...

the honda scandal was way before my time but i believe vista honda is now in ventura.as far as fillmore goes i think the morris chevy store has a lock on it forever.i remember standing in front of the store watching thousands of cars drive by but could not figure out how to get them to stop.i tried everything,i even scored the costco account when simi valley lost it.i focused hard on internet, lead providers, placement etc.i tried print, direct mail nothing worked.but in hindsight if we could have hung in there we would probably be in serious jeopardy now anyway.
