New Jersey files suit against Dealer for Craigslist Ads
Newspaper reports indicate the New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs has filed suit against Ramsey Chrysler Jeep Dodge for allegedly violating the state's Consumer Fraud Act and regulations in its advertisement and sale of used motor vehicles.
Part of the complaint concerns advertisements the dealership placed on Craigslist. Here's an excerpt from the report: The complaint alleges that in its Craigslist ads, the dealership failed to disclose:
While this filing may be unique to New Jersey I wouldn't be surprised to see other states take similar action. Most states are broke and car dealers are popular targets. If you run a dealership or an Internet Department it might be a wise investment of your time to verify your Craigslist ads follow state requirements. |
