Interesting story but it didn't seem like there was too much depth to the report. The fact that Chrysler stores now command Blue Sky that's on par with Ford and GM is a story that probably could have been written two years ago. (I still believe that a Ford store would command a higher Blue Sky multiple than a comparable GM or CJDR store.)
Grady's comments regarding dealer profitability were interesting but I'd love to see how the results compare based on dealership group size. Are all of the Chrysler Dealers reporting record profits exceeding anything that's been seen in the past 15 years, or are the results skewed with the larger sized stores seeing the record profits? Additionally, what's the Blue Sky multiple for a profitable Chrysler Dealer that has a non-complaint facility? Would AutoNation and the large dealer groups still be willing to pay a premium if they knew they'd have to "build an arch" to get the buy/sell approved? |
