Default Virus Protection

So today we had another virus attack on our bodyshop computer. So now I'm fed up with AVG Free. Just wanted to know what my peers are using to protect the dealership computers.

After my last attack on my pc at the dealership I downloaded Norton from Comcast (Home) Cable Internet.

Thanks Gang!

AVG is decent stuff… maybe before you spend more money on anti-virus software, give this a try.

Unload your AVG completely including restarting the pc.

Then head here: http://download.cnet.com/windows/mos...ent;contentNav

Download #4 Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run a full system scan. After this cleans your system, restart the pc and go back in a re-install #1 AVG again and run a full scan with AVG. You should be good at this time if the virus isn't too bad.

I hate Norton. If it's not slowing down my computer, it's telling me that it's about to slow down my computer.

The best virus protection is limiting what is done on the PC. Install a web control system to stop them from using it to go to sites that pose a risk. Place controls on the types and sizes of files that they can open via e-mail.

Thats what I need to do...

Is that an out-of -the-box program or something that can be down loaded ?

Call your IT vendor they will have suggestions. It needs to be installed by a pro and you can set the parameters

Just make sure the new controls don't block access to DealershipForum.

On a serious note I do hear from a fair number of people who tell me they cannot access this website from their dealership computer.

Concerning SHACO's comment about Norton, I couldn't agree more. My dad has Norton on his computer and I hate it - it slows his computer down so much that sometimes it transitions into the "Not Responding" mode.
