Default Future for Kentucky Auto Park is dim

News reports indicate that it is unlikely that the former location of Jeff Sach's Auto Park will be re-opened as a Chevrolet Dealership.

Here's a link to the news report: http://www.state-journal.com/news/article/4391381

A law approved in 1996 requires that dealers secure authorization from competing dealers with the same franchise within a 10 mile radius. The 10 mile requirement was created after the Auto Park was operational and was grandfathered under the law.

A new dealer that wanted to use the existing facility would not be grandfathered and would have to seek approval from Jeff Jones Chevrolet.

The news report indicated that the rent factor on the existing lease is $45K/month - that may be difficult to pay with the volumes and profits generated from selling Chevrolets in this tough economy.
