Geez… isn’t this a bit hypocritical??? Chrysler has a nice cash balance on hand but lets this “corporate” museum close down... while Fiat is broke but keeps its museum going!

Of course it is...as have been almost all of the actions taken by Newco since May 15th, 2009.

Fiat has no love for the history behind Chrysler, nor any thoughts of heritage. They will milk out all they can for Fiat, and thats all they want.

Back in 1999 Chrysler was still in the euphoria of the "Merger of Equals" that brought us DaimlerChrysler and Auburn Hills was blessed to have some of the best management talent of any OEM in the world. The product was hot, the dealers were all making good money and life was good.

Flash forward to today and Chrysler's been sold twice and has gone bankrupt once since the museum was formed. The company is now controlled by Fiat and the remains of Chrysler Financial have been sold to TD Bank of Canada.

With vehicles like the Dodge Dart on the showroom and a Fiat based Jeep in the final stages of development it's clear to me that Chrysler's DNA will soon disappear forever. I guess that's why no one at Auburn Hills thought it was worth $600,000/year to keep the museum operational.

That's a great find.

As the economy in Europe continues to falter and Fiat loses more market share in their key markets I doubt it will be long before Chrysler's profits are used to keep Fiat's museum operational.
