How will the 2015 Ford Mustang sell once it reaches market?

Now that Ford has released images and specifications for their 2015 Mustang the next obvious question is how will the auto-buying public respond to the vehicle?

While the styling of a new vehicle is critical to its success; pricing, marketing, advertising and distribution also play major roles and can make or break a new vehicle launch.

Based on the styling of the 2015 Mustang and Ford's recent results launching new vehicles, how do you think the Mustang will sell once it reaches the market?

I was watching a Mecum Auction on Tivo and they were selling a 1966 Ford Mustang and commented that it was a milestone year for Ford because it marked the sale of the One Millionth Mustang.

Seems amazing in retrospect that Ford was able to sell over 1 Million Mustangs in just two years.

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts.

So far, the response to the Corvette has been outstanding. I think if Ford gets the pricing right on the Mustang they'll have a real success.

That said, I believe the launch of the Mustang is still over six months away. I remember GM tried to generate excitement for the 2010 Camaro by hyping it almost a full year before production - I was almost tired of hearing about the car by the time it launched.

I'm sure this new Mustang will sell very well, but I am just not feeling the new style at the moment. Maybe if I see it in the flesh, I'll like it better, but for now it is kind of meh.
That's too bad because finally adding the IRS will make it a much better driving and riding car. And you can't go wrong with the 5.0 V-8.

Oh well, this takes another future car off my list. I guess I'll keep my Mach 1 longer.

I agree.

I also think the new Mustang has a lot of the Aston Martin styling to it:

For that matter, even the Ford Fusion has a lot of Aston Martin styling to it.

Given Ford's past ownership of both Jaguar and Aston Martin I guess it's not surprising that many of their styling cues show up in current Ford designs.

Default 2015 Ford Mustang on display at Barrett-Jackson

Ford had their 2015 Mustang on display at Barrett-Jackson and I just had to take a quick picture:

I thought the new Mustang looked awesome but it really doesn't look that much different than the current Mustang. In fact, I walked by the 2015 Mustang when I first arrived at the auction and just assumed it was the 2014 version - I didn't notice it was the new 2015 version until I was walking by the Ford display as I was leaving the auction.

I kind of wish they would have angled the 1/4 window forward at the back, more like a '69 fastback.
