Termination to Resurrection:Century CDJ
I'm proud to say I know them. Would like to see good things for the rest of the 788.
http://www.stltoday.com/business/col...388805f26.html I hope this link works. They are reopening today! If I didn't properly paste the link, would someone give me a hand? Last edited by Needhelp; 03-01-2011 at 08:18 AM. |

Try living with an ex-wife because you force her to live there. I hope things go well for these folks, but hell hath no fury like a scorned mama Chrysler. Can you spell audits?

Congratulations to the Mock family! Looking forward to other stores that prevailed in their arbitrations to join them soon!

Thanks for starting the thread, it's the first bit of good news I've read in awhile. I'm pressed for time right now, but I'll add my thoughts to this thread later tonight. Thanks again for starting this thread and congratulations to the Mock family. |

Century is among 20-some terminated dealers who have reopened, according to Chrysler spokesman Michael Palese. That number includes some arbitration winners and some dealers who were granted reprieves before an arbitrator ruled. Palese says that after a "challenging process," Chrysler now has a "dealer network that we think will serve the company well in the future." The automaker didn't always say such nice things about its business partners. One internal memo that surfaced in the arbitration case brands Century as "extremely hard to work with." A consulting firm also told Chrysler that it had too many dealers in the St. Louis area, and labeled Century an "excess point." What Chrysler didn't have was any objective evidence against Century. The arbitrator found that the Wentzville showroom was adequately capitalized and met all requirements of Project Genesis, a Chrysler quality-improvement program. The Mocks invested $2 million in improvements just a year before they were terminated. I'd be curious to know who the "20-some" OLDCO dealers are who have been reinstated. I know of a handful, but nothing that apporaches 20+ dealers. |

While I'm super-happy the Mock's have prevailed and won one for the "little guys" I think the logical decision would be to get the store fully operational and profitable and then sell it off. I imagine relations with the Business Center and the Chrysler field employees will be challenging and it will take years before there's any genuine feeling of trust between Century CJDR and Chrysler. Why waste all that effort when it would be easier to sell the store and then buy another franchise? |
