Anyone else hear the Lifetime Powertrain warranty is gone end of Sept.? I got a weird ending date of Sept. 28?

I haven't heard anything but I was wondering if Chrysler was going to pull the plug on Lifetime Powertrain.

My bet is that if they make the change it will be with 2010 vehicles so they can issue new Warranty Guidelines as part of the Owner's Manual.

Has anyone received a 2010 Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge vehicle yet?

Yep!

The funny thing here is that I got an 09 Wrangler in yesterday that still has the PowerTrain logo on the monroney label and today we received our 1st 2010 (a minivan) and not only is the PT logo missing… but there’s NO mention of any warranty coverage at all on the window label.

Do you have the Owner's Manual and Warranty Coverage Booklet for the 2010 Minivan?

Yep, again. New 2010 packets are basically a CD disc. However, once opened it still indicates the Lifetime Powertrain w/ 3/36,000 basic. ???

Well, there goes my theory...

Your September 28 date may still be a factor, however. I remember the last time Chrysler changed warranty coverage in the middle of a model year they did it for all vehicles built after a certain date.

In this case, it's possible vehicles built after 09/28/09 will no longer have Lifetime Powertrain Coverage. It was explained to me that Chrysler needed a "clean-date" where they knew that all vehicles leaving the factory had the revised Warranty Coverage Guides in the glovebox.

I rec'd e-mail notifaction that it's over 9/28.

It will also effect all in stock 08's and 09's....

New warranty 5yr~100,000 miles

Thanks for the information. It looks like you and CL must have similar sources.

I'm surprised that Chrysler's going to make the Warranty Coverage change that way. In the past they felt bound to honor whatever coverage was issued when the car left the assembly plant. (Unless it was an improvement in coverage)

If it were me, I would have made the change effective with the 2010 vehicles - but what do I know?

That said, I don't question Chrysler's decision to drop the Lifetime Warranty Program. I think the impact of the program was minimal and short-lived - most customers view it as a gimmick.

Just like Government Motors. Too bad, the Lifetime warranty was a real selling point out here. Some of these guys put 50-100K miles on their truck in a year.

Is it still 3/36 BASIC, then Powertrain?

Sure is an exact rumor... as this is exactly what's come my way.

That's interesting.

Maybe the customers in the Seattle area are just jaded but I aways got the impression that most of them saw the Lifetime Powertrain coverage as a gimmick.

That said, if I was a customer who was racking up 50 - 100K miles per year I guess I'd have a different outlook.

I never heard anybody raving about the Lifetime warranty when I was out in the field either. In fact, I don't even remember it being a selling point.
