Here are my bets for the College Championship and Seahawks Game
Since there's only one major NCAA Football Game left I figured I'd bet on the Seahawk's game to add a little excitement to the weekend.
Here are my bets for Sunday and Monday:
If I win all of my bets I'll be able to collect $396.05 - if I lose all of my bets I'll be able to collect $0. |

Just bought $20 in Powerball Lottery Tickets
I figured my luck has been so spotty with betting on College Football Games I'd give my luck a shot at winning the $800 Million Powerball Lottery.
I rarely buy lottery tickets but given the size of the jackpot I figured it might be interesting. As they say, "you can't win if you don't play." |

For as many tickets that were sold for last night's drawing I wonder what the odds were that there would be no winner? |

While the Seahawks managed to win the game due to a missed Field Goal by the Vikings, the one point victory didn't cover the spread so I lost that bet. The combined score, however, was less than 39 so I won my "under" bet. I'm looking forward to tonight's College Football Championship - I'm hoping Alabama crushes Clemson. Time will tell.... |

Concerning the Powerball, I read that they changed the odds of the Powerball Lottery last year and the odds went from 1 in 175 Million to 1 in 292 Million. The odds were increased so the pots would grow larger and that would induce more people to play - mission accomplished. |

I would have been 2 for 5 if Alabama could have prevented the last touchdown by Clemson - oh well. Both teams I wanted to see win won - they just didn't cover the spread. Concerning the College National Championship game it was a great contest. I'll concede that Clemson is a better team than I thought they were and they were much more successful against Alabama's defense than I would have imagined. With the exception of the Oregon/TCU game the National Championship was probably the most exciting game of the entire bowl season. While I'd still like to see an eight team playoff the CFP is a HUGE improvement over the BCS. |

I didn't realize how many states participate in the Powerball and Mega Millions games these days. I remember not that long ago that people from neighboring states would come to Indiana to purchase Powerball tickets while Hoosiers would have to go to Ohio or Michigan if the Mega Millions jackpot was bigger. These days it seems like both of the major multi-state lotteries are almost everywhere. I guess it makes sense why the jackpots are bigger now than ever before, not to mention the lower odds since adding more numbers to the pool. It all makes sense now! |

Concerning the states that don't offer Powerball, I thought that was interesting too. Out West the two states that stand out are Nevada and Utah but for entirely different reasons. Utah is a very religious state which has rejected Powerball because it's a form of gambling and Nevada, by contrast, has rejected Powerball because they see it as a form of competition with the gambling that's allowed in their state. Concerning tonight's drawing, I'll probably add $20 to the pot just for the fun of it. (It's cheaper than betting on football lately....) |

Not only didn't I win, I wasn't even close. I had 10 $2 picks and only three of them had one number correct - the other seven were complete blanks. I guess I'll stick to losing money on college football - at least that's more entertaining. |
