2015, was not interested in the styling of the 2016. Looked at a 2015 Countryman first, then switched to the Park Avenue 2016. Thinking of that, was there not a BUICK called a "Park Avenue"? Wonder how they got away with that....

Concerning car names I think it's funny how sometimes a name will shift from one brand to another. When I see a Buick Encore driving around I can't help but think of the old AMC Encore that was sold 30 or so years earlier. I'm sure the execs at Buick were certain that the majority of Americans had long since forgotten about the AMC version before they revived the Encore name. |

I do not understand the naming processes of the Mercedes, Infinity, Lexus, ETC.. If a buyer is not enthused for years with the brand, he will spend hours of researching just what is the competition for any model. I found some solace in using the U.S. News and Report competitive reports, but gosh I found it confusing. I just do not hear anyone say, "Lets take the GLK350 (insert nomenclature here) to dinner", instead, it's "Let's take the Mercedes (insert Brand here)." This is completely different than my experience with domestic brands where the model was the descriptive term for the car.

At one point it seemed that Mercedes had a pretty simple naming system where cars could be referred to as the C Class, E Class, S Class, etc. that was easy to remember and made sense. Today with all of their models it's become more confusing. I guess the same could be said for BMW. It used to be their cars were grouped as either a 3 Series, 5 Series or 7 Series for the most part but now they've expanded to include a 1 Series, 2 Series and 4 Series. I do like the naming of the Chrysler 200 and 300 however. Dropping the overused Sebring name and replacing it with the 200 branding was a big improvement. |
