My guess is that the two vendors you have listed have a 95% Market Share in the U.S.

I know that there are a few smaller Windows Based DMS Systems but I don't think they have much Market Share.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft can make inroads with their DMS offering. It would be great to see Reynolds and ADP have some competition.

Default DMS systems

As a comptroller I have worked with ADP, Reynolds & Reynolds, Autosoft and PBS. PBS is by far superior to the other systems I have been with. They are out of Calgary,B.C. and it is windows based. They are extremely helpful, price is good and if they don't have it, PBS works on getting it for you. Unfortunately in the U.S. most dealers are afraid to not use the main three DMS systems.

Deb - Welcome to DealershipForum.com and thanks for your comments.

It's great to hear from someone who has used a number of different DMS Services and learn about your experiences.

Based on what I read in Automotive News I sense that there are a lot of dealers that are not too happy with the current DMS providers. The prices are high and it seems like the contracts are lengthy and inflexible.

Thanks again for your insight - I hope you'll share your thought on some of our other topics.

Default Former DealerTrack

We were on DT for about 9 years. It was the best DMS I've ever used.

Currently on ADP Drive +, and it is a dismal piece of junk.

I've been on ADP before, and it was a good system....Drive is horrible.

and I'd say that these are the top 4, not sure who #5 is...lots of smaller offerings out there.
1) R+R
2) ADP
3) Autosoft
4) Dealertrack

used adp from 1974 till 2000. cost a fortune, but they always had the nicest company cars and haircuts
switched to auto soft in 2000,installed by a guy in cowboy boots from western kansas, it works, and the fee's have not increased one penny since. one store or multiples, it will do the job. its definitely sophisticated enough for us. good luck with your selection.

Have used both Reynolds and Autosoft both have their positives and negatives. The one new item with Autosoft is a Web based Finance Assistance. Since the old FA is being phased out and everything has to be programmed for the web based system, and traffic cop (CRM System) that Autosoft sells is Not integrated with the new system.

The Autosoft system before Traffic Cop costs Way Way less then Reynolds and ADP.

We use PBS, its not bad. I have used ADP (and ADP Drive) as well as Auto/Mate. I think I liked Auto/Mate the best as a Controller but the Service and parts guys were just ok with it. PBS is alright, I don't care for some of the reports etc.. in accounting and we have had some nightmares with the F&I. Both have great customer service.

Sorry to resurrect something so old -- but I have 5+ years experience with ACS (not a current customer, but very familiar with their ACS First offerings). Just PM me if any details!

Default AutoSoft

I have been with AutoSoft for many years. We have always been satisfied with the product, service and price.

That being said, Autosoft is currently undergoing a lot of internal changes as well as personel changes and a new field office in Ohio. They will also be introducing a new Logo after the first of the year.

Hopefully the new management will only improve the model that already exists.

I have used Reynolds for many years until I came to Kia. We use Automate. Very user friendly, great support, easy to use and we own it. No monthly lease or contract except for support. A great system.
