Is Ford Buying Back Franchises?
I'd read earlier this year that Ford was working with Dealers in California to consolidate the market in an effort to stabilize its falling market share. Several stories suggested that Ford was providing financial assistance to consolidate the dealerships. Is this happening nationwide?
I recently read a press release that suggested that Ford purchased a Lincoln/Mercury Dealership in the Seattle area and then closed the point. Here's a link to the press release: http://money.aol.com/news/articles/q...n/rfid99062154 I'd be interested to learn if Ford is paying any "Blue Sky" or whether it's simply a repurchase of parts and special tools? |

Moss Bros. Ford in Colton, CA accepts Ford's offer
It appears that Ford has a standard program in place that it is offering to all dealers that want to terminate their dealer agreement and sell the franchise back to Ford.
Moss Bros. Ford in Colton, CA just announced that they are closing their dealership and they've accepted Ford's offer to purchase the franchise. Here's a link to the news report: http://www.pe.com/business/local/sto...9.3daf96d.html There were 13 Ford Stores in California that closed last year with an additional nine stores closed so far in 2008. |
