Default Marketing Assistance Funds

I read about the program this morning - seems like a good deal if you have the ability to take even more inventory.

Is anyone stepping up to the plate for more units?

Default BC Director offers a personal guarantee

I read an e-mail from the West BC Director this afternoon that I thought was pretty cool.

He indicated that several Dealer Principals contacted him indicating that they were reluctant to step up and purchase Marketing Assistance Vehicles because it seemed like every time they purchased additional inventory Chrysler came back with a better program. Essentially, why buy from your DM today when you know that tomorrow's offer will be better.

In response to that concern, the BC Director provided his personal guarantee that dealers who purchase Marketing Assistance Vehicles today will be made whole if Chrysler sweetens the deal before the end of the year. It's almost like the "Rebate Guarantee" that Chrysler offered to the retail customers.

I don't know if all the BCs made the same offer to their dealers, but I thought it was a great way to address and resolve a valid dealer concern.

I wouldn't do it. Inventory is not exactly the best investment in this economy.

You both make valid points.

I was reviewing the West BC November Sale Report last night and noticed there were a number of dealers carrying a 10+ month supply of vehicles. It's not that they ordered too many units, it's the fact that their sales rate dropped so much that it makes the inventory level look bloated.

It wouldn't make much business sense to add units if you already have a 10+ month supply.
