Desert Dodge is closed
Your source is correct, Desert Dodge in Las Vegas is closed.
In fact, we had a thread about the closing in the Regional Section - Click here I thought it was strange that AutoNation would close down one of their stores in that fashion. It appears they didn't provide their customers or their employees any advance notice. The spokesperson for AN makes it sound like this was all part of Project Genesis. Perhaps it was, but from what I read Las Vegas is really struggling right now. |

That's what I thought too. AN has one shareholder, Eddie Lampert, who now owns over 45% of the company. He's been adding shares even though the stock price has continued to fall. Part of me thinks he must know what he's doing, and then the other part reminds me that he's the "mastermind" that put together the Sears/K-Mart merger.
I haven't read the details yet, but it appears that AN closed another Chrysler store in Texas in the same fashion they closed Desert Dodge. |
