That's a $1.20 price difference between two markets - that seems insane.

I know that California has one of the highest gas taxes in the country and they also have laws which require special blends of fuels but it still seems excessive to see a $1.20 spread between markets.

Default Gas prices continue to slowly decline in Phoenix area

Gas prices in the Phoenix area continue to slowly decline and it's becoming more common to see gas for less than $1.99/gallon.

The lowest price seems to be at either Costco or Sams' Club - $1.91/gallon.

On my most recent trip to Laughlin I saw gas was $1.85 in Fort Mohave, AZ.

Default News reports indicate gas is heading for a six year low

Various news reports are indicating that gas prices are heading for a six year low as oil has dropped below $40/barrel.

Many experts are predicting gas prices will fall to $1.50 in the near future.

While the falling gas prices are great news for consumers, I'm guessing the OEMs that are heavily invested in electric cars are hoping for higher gas prices.

Another company that loses with lower oil prices in Boeing - there's less of a financial incentive for airlines to update their fleets if the price of oil remains low.

It has been 3 weeks since the Costco opened. Their price is the market maker, currently at $1.81. Within hours of a match by another station, they drop a cent or two. On the other side, they are the last to raise prices, (but only by an hour or so). Prices across the state line are $1.89, but will be falling today as one station has posted $1.69 this morning. Last week, prices were generally around $1.70, with a few at $1.59. Expect to hit same or less by Thursday, with bump up for weekend, the fall lower next week.

That's interesting - thanks for the information.

Concerning Costco, I can't say that I'm surprised with their pricing strategy. I bet they'd be willing to sell gas at cost if it helped get a new store launched and resulted in a lot of new membership fees.

I remember in Business School learning about "predatory pricing" where large companies will sell below their cost to drive their smaller competitors out of business and then raise prices accordingly. I'm not accusing Costco of "predatory pricing" but I'm sure there are a lot of small private capital gas station owners that lose sleep at night worrying that a Costco or grocery store gas station may appear in their market.

Within the last hour, prices across the river have dropped from the $1.89 to $1.75 in many spots. Costco is $1.76 in Southern Ohio, and $1.79 in Northern KY.

Wow, that's a surprise.

That said, I'm guessing there's a fair percentage of people from the Dakotas who would like to see higher oil prices return. Based on what little I've read I get the impression that the falling oil prices have really taken a toll on the oil exploration that was a boon to the local economy.

Falling oil prices are also supposed to be one of the main reasons the Canadian Dollar is only worth 73 cents today in the U.S.

Thanks for the update - you're getting closer to the $1.50 point that some experts are predicting.
