What's your store doing for the Fourth of July?
Happy Fourth of July It's hard to believe that 2014 is already more than half over and the Fourth of July is less than 24 hours away. Given that the Fourth falls on a Friday this year I'm guessing that the Sales Departments for almost all stores will be open but the Service and Parts Departments for most rural stores will be closed. (A local Powersports Dealer had a curious solution where they were going to be open on Friday the Fourth but closed on Saturday - a day they would normally be open.) What's your store doing for the Fourth of July? Are you open, closed, open with reduced hours or having a huge sale? Regardless of what your store does, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July. |

CLOSED Friday and Saturday. We all need a break sometimes being a "small" hometown dealer has its benefits.

Well, we had a fairly successful 4th. Delivered 6 new and 3 used... our best 4th yet. I guess that has put paid to any chances of being closed over the holiday ever again!

Same here.
Sold 15... @ 1600 front 10 New 3k in service gross 1800 parts gross over all... a good day with absolutely no advertising spent for the purpose of indicating that we were open. The business is there for sure. Looks like we will be open next year. |

I think your examples are the primary reason why it's hard for many dealers to make the decision to be closed for a holiday - while it's a nice benefit for the employees there's no question that the buyers are still in the market looking for vehicles. |
