merge with Fiat or were done?
Did Obama not just give Fiat the upper hand in negotiating a deal?

They have the ONLY hand. We are completely at their whims. People who have never even had a job (eg: politicians) are deciding our future. Frankly, it doesn't look too good.

I am usually extremely positive but I have to agree with you
I have said it before, I would have been on the Titanic yelling at the life boats; "Ya'll come back we're gonna get this thing fixed" |

I was away from my computer yesterday and I'm just catching up on the news.
My initial reaction is EXACTLY the same as yours - the Obama Administration has put Chrysler at the mercy of Fiat. I cannot imagine a weaker negotiation position than the one that Chrysler's been placed under. This whole Fiat/Chrysler merger has always seemed strange to me. From day one it appeared that Fiat was getting too much for investing too little. Now they're getting a superior negotiation position. I'll have to do more reading this morning and see if I can find some explanation that makes sense. At this point, I'm still confused. |

Reuters reports that Chrysler and Fiat agree to framework of a deal
Reuters is reporting that Chrysler and Fiat have agreed to a framework of a deal as the final details are still being negotiated.
Here's a link to the news report: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Chrysl...=TBD&ccode=TBD While the deal has not been finalized, it appears that it's pretty much a foregone conclusion. |

Where did the Fiat Alliance FAQ Sheet go on DealerConnect?
Did anyone else notice that the "Dealer Fiat Alliance Question and Chrysler LLC Response" link is no longer on DealerConnect?
I wonder why it's missing? When I read through the document I thought it created more questions than it answered. |

I think the good news is that it will shake out pretty fast - they only have 30 days to ink a deal. Given how long this saga has lasted it's nice to see the end in sight. Hopefully it will be a positive outcome.
I've read some reports that indicate the Treasury will prevent Fiat from taking majority ownership of Chrysler until the government loans have been paid off. Some people think the 35% stake that was originally negotiated will be reduced to 20%. |
