Default AutoTrader and other advertising doesn't want small dealers?

I used to a list a few cars a month on AT. Also remember back when the auctions would take a picture of your car as you checked it in (at the beginning of the internet and before everybody had a digital camera) so you could post it on AutoTrader for $5. Last time I had a car on AT a few years ago it was $25 for a basic ad. Now they stopped that format and require you to sign up for a plan. Like 10 cars a month every month. It's like they don't want to do business with small dealers anymore. cars.com and Gurus pretty much the same unless you post something as a private ad, but then the ad shows as overpriced with the private seller KBB values. So it's either Craigslist which is cheap and ineffective, Facebook which is free and ineffective, or Ebay which is expensive and hit or miss. Any other advertising options?
