I'm making more money than last year, but then again I don't have to sell cars to make the money.
I'll give a standing ovation to any salesperson who has made it through these rough times. Congratulations! |

Carguy - Great idea for a thread - thanks.
I'll be sending out a Monthly Newsletter later this week and I'll reference this thread and request some input. Although the market is down your post is a great reminder that things do not have to be as bad as they appear. |

We feel blessed. We are up 15% in new car volume and up 40% in used car volume. We are also up in gross profit. We are focusing hard on the basics, blocking and tackling. Every customer gets followed up with, it is amazing how many people in the buying process still have not bought two weeks later. If you follow up with these customers regularly after their visit it is amazing how many deals are out there. The other part that is amazing is how many customers come back and tell us that they went to another dealer and were treated like crap. Guys somebody out there is selling cars and it might as well be you!!!! You just have to be getter preppared than everyone else around you.

I started at my store in mid Oct 2007.
In 2008, we beat 2007 11 out of 12 months. Our december was the best this store has had in nearly a decade. Our January should be better than 2006, 2007 and 2008. New is down, but I couldn't care less. As long as we get rid of our old age new cars, my bosses stay off my ass. Just not interested in trying to compete when the playing field is so uneven. |

1/06 38 New
1/07 40 New 1/08 39 New 1/09 36 New Front end is down, back is up. We're just working smarter and hanging on tight to every opportunity. GMAC has made it tough, but luckily our state credit unions have been great to us this year. |

Great thread - Moving to the Automotive Section
This is a great thread - I'm going to move it from the Chrysler Sales section to the Automotive Discussions section so more members will see it and have a chance to respond.
