Default Turlock Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge to close down

News reports indicate that Turlock Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge will close down by the end of the year.

The co-owner of the dealership indicated that they had tried to whether the tough times by cutting costs but sales are still too low to keep the dealership open. At its peak the dealership was selling over 200 new and used units per month but sales have fallen to approximately 50 units per month.

I hope this dommino effect will stop soon, we can't, as a business, continue to watch this continue to happen.
Granted the mfg's enabled us to steal our future and as greedy people we jumped all over it, but they wanted to keep the impossible growth, to continue right alongside WALL ST. Really they should have seen what they were doing making too many vehicles and creating such exausting incentives that stack this way or that just to buy the business from our future. So the big question is will anyone learn and retain what they learn and not allow it to happen again?

That's a great question - my guess is that the answer will be no.

The car business is so competitive that there will always be some manufacturer that's pushing for market share. That quest for market share will be fueled with incentives and the whole cycle will repeat itself.

It's just like leasing - it may be gone today, but it will be back.
