Default Ford Allocations/inventory

Noticing that our local ford dealer is very low on inventory and then in talking with our "bean counter" (we have 3 FLM) stores in the organization and he said they had been allocated 6 F150's, they ordered 12 and then allocation was cut to 3....any news out there relating to that?

Thanks for starting the thread - the Ford Section has been a little sleepy.

With the industry at 10 Million units it's hard for me to imagine any OEM would be restricting/cutting allocations. That said, I don't follow Ford that closely and anything's possible.

Let's hope dafuzz chimes in - He's the forum's Lincoln/Mercury expert.

Had to laugh this morning, the GM of our "flagship" ford store stopped in and spoke about our lack of inventory, currently 47 total new rides on the ground, then complained that he's unable to obtain inventory either.....these are confusing times for me, though I doubt I'm alone.
I try to be a glass half full type of guy, but the horizen isn't looking so good these days.

We are a very small Ford store and thus transitioning to the new wholesale allocation system. Our June F150 allocation & production was zero. Retail F150 orders input on 5/4/2009 were pulled rather quickly (5/14/2009) but will not be produced until 7/20/2009. Many of the original select dealers (not you big guys who have slipped into our little world) have stated that they are requesting additional F Series production with no success.

WillSD - Thanks for the information - that was interesting.

I thought of this thread as I was driving to AZ from WA. I drove by a number of Ford Dealerships and it did seem like some of them had very low inventory levels. (Except the store in Red Bluff, CA - they're closed due to bankruptcy.)

OK, IF there any FLM dlrs/mgrs that have been there for a while please speak up and back me on this.
AAbout 5 yrs ago when Ford starte coming out with new product (infact this may even go further back) Ford would not put any rebates on new releases they would throw large money on older names, but the new stuff would see nothing.
So I spoke to one of the regional Mgrs and I was told that " the new releases will not get big money on the hood if at all possible", ( fusion/milan) took a while before any money, real money, was put on the hood, "we are going to ween the buying public off of the BIG REBATES" So I think this is part of that sme train of thought, reduce inventory, redeuce availability and decrease rebates.

I think it will be really hard to wean the public off of rebates - especially the customers who have negative equity.

That said, Ford's in the best position to try to make changes and maybe they've adjusted their business model to a lower volume/higher gross platform until the recession ends?
