Default Will Ford customers upgrade MyFord Touch or will they have their dealers do it?

A report in Automotive News indicates that Ford has mailed 300,000 upgrade kits to customers who have a vehicle with the MyFord Touch System. The kit contains a USB thumbdrive and instructions on how customers can upgrade their MyFord Touch System.

Customers can also opt to have their dealer perform the upgrade and Ford will provide the customer with a free rental car.

While the upgrade doesn't appear to be too complex it does require that the vehicle be left running for at least 1 hour while the upgrade is in process. Ford cautions owners to make sure they perform the upgrade in well ventilated areas.

What's your bet - will most customer do the upgrade themselves to avoid a trip to the dealership or will the prospect of spending over an hour upgrading their vehicle send them to the dealership to perform the upgrade?
