$841,200 Verdict against Ford Dealer over Safety Recall
For those of you that have responsibility for the Fixed Operations Departments in your dealership, you may want to include the following story in your next Service Adviser training session.
Here's the story: http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content...wacsykora.html Here's the Cliff Notes version of the story: A customer with a 2000 Ford Expedition received a Recall Letter from Ford concerning the Cruise Control switch as a possible fire hazard. The customer indicated that they called their local Ford dealership and were informed that they shouldn't worry about the recall, that there was just a 1 in 1 Million chance that it could cause a fire and they should just throw the letter away. Two months later the customer's house burned down. I bet that phone call only lasted a minute - yet it just cost the dealership $841,200. |
