Default The power of YouTube

For those that question where the Internet is headed, I believe that Youtube provides some insight.

The media talks about Internet 2.0 as being the second wave of the web's evolution. If Internet 1.0 was all about words and images and sounds, then Internet 2.0 is all about video.

And it there is any one site that has spurred the growth of video, it's YouTube.com. (The following clip is NOT Work Safe due to language)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHbYTm8U1v8

The above clip has been on YouTube for only one week and already has over 2.5 million hits.

The first version of the skit (Also NOT Work Safe) has been out for just over one year and has had 12.5 million hits.

In my opinion, Internet 2.0 is all about video - and nothing demonstrates that better than the popularity of YouTube.

Default VIDEO, key to growth.

As it pertains to video and youtube, the numbers speak for themself. Clearly we as dealers are playing catch-up with the consumer usage of video. I have found using YouTube is a great first step.

The next step is optimizing conversion and building trust via brand development, ie, your own branded channel. For that, our business uses a company called Realview TV Automotive http://www.realviewtv.com.

Our firm designed a dealership video selling site that features videos on each of our new cars as well as branded commercials for pre-owned lead generation, service. We now are using video in email as well to increase conversion.

What is great about Realview TV is that they provide custom branded video channels, video email and search engine optimization to syndicate your channel. Talk to Greg, he took good care of me and I want to return the favor to him. Greg is a pioneer in online auto markerting at AOL Automotive. He can be reached at 1(770)490-8230 or visit http://www.realviewtv.com

I just watched the demo video for a car dealership on the realviewtv.com website - it looked really good.

There's no question that we will all look back at the beginning of the Internet one day and laugh at how simplistic it was.
  • Web 1.0 = Words and pictures - 1992 - 2004
  • Web 2.0 = Sound and video - 2004 - ?
  • Web 3.0 =
