Google Street View Car spotted in Lake Havasu, AZ
I've heard about the fleet of Google Street View cars for years but yesterday was the first time I ever actually saw one.
The car was parked at a CVS Pharmacy in Lake Havasu. It appeared to be a KIA and it was plated with California license plates. If you've ever wondered how Google ended up with a picture of the front of your house (Google Street View - as part of Google Maps) this is how they do it. In fact, when Google is driving through the neighborhood they also monitor and record WiFi access points. If you own an Android Phone and you wondered what you were agreeing to when you allowed "Google location tools" to help identify your location this is how they do it. If Google knows what WiFi access points your phone can access and they know where all of the WiFi access points are they can determine your location. While I'm definitely "pro-Google" and I love Google Maps and Street View it is somewhat intimidating all of the information Google has been able to amass.
